A Simulation Study of Steamflood Process with Co-Injection of Steam-Carbon Dioxide for Oil Recovery

Steamflood as one of thermal EOR method is effective to reduce the amount oil left in reservoir by mechanisms such reducing viscosity oil, evaporation, and displacement steam. In this method, fluid injected continuously into some injection wells displace obtain production from other wells. However, there are problems with steamflood process that still not optimally solved. There an early channelling steam under cap rock well which leads investigating a solution co-injecting gases steamflooding processes. Carbon dioxide co-injected form gas-drive so it expected be able add sweep also increase place gas dissolves oil. Thermal simulation was carried out study using CMG STARS simulator constructing two kind schemes; only steam-CO2 performance each method. The analysis research investigates effects steam-gas simultaneous heavy-oil recovery specifically microscopic macroscopic efficiencies. sensitivity parameters including rate, quality slug size evaluated. result shows highest efficiency field-scale model obtained From analysis, shown rate gives higher recovery, but decreases increasing.
